Soundscape Gamelan Players perform at the Southbank Center in London

With support from Culture Ireland and Galway City & County Arts offices the Soundscape Gamelan Players travelled to London to perform at the opening of an International Gamelan Festival celebrating 25 years of Gamelan at the Southbank Centre, London. Members of the award winning Soundscape music program from Brothers of Charity Services Galway performed their unique and colourful version of the ancient epic Hindu tale ‘The Ramayana’ with shadow puppets, live music and sound effects performed on the Indonesian gamelan. The group received a standing ovation by the audience and they were deemed to be an inspiration and in many ways a dream come true by the organizers of the event.
